Fire in Aisle 7

On 28 Feb 2004 right across the street from my place (well, across the street and down one block) there was a big fire that took out a McCaffrey's Supermarket.  The reports said two alarms.  The store was pretty much a complete loss.  The 200+ staff and customers in the store had all gotten out safely.  (The news even showed that they saved the pet turtle of one of the staff who was there for some reason.)  The fire started in the shrubbery outside the store and the winds quickly spread it to the rest of the store.  They apperantly saved the other stores in the strip mall.

I had shopped there an handful of times, but must admit, I usually shop at the Giant, which is RIGHT across the street from me rather than across the street and down a block.  (Yeah, the two grocery stores were pretty much right next door to each other.   Just facing different streets and with a few other stores in between.)
