Who:

I met Rebecca back at CMU when I was public affairs director of WRCT and she came up to the booth at the activities fair and asked to be involved.  Or something like that.  We later cohosted a talk show together, and have kept in touch years after graduating and moving on.  After CMU Rebecca worked at AOL for awhile, then cashed out some options and went back to grad school for Poetry.  She now writes and sells jewlery in Reston, VA, while being married to some huge giant guy named Chris.

Who:

Ivan showed up at Hamphire Hall at CMU my Sophomore year.  Right away he realized I had a car (Ford Taurus Wagon) and so we often went places together.  He joined me at WRCT cohosting my first radio talk show, Curmudgeon's Corner, where we would do a McLaughlin Group style debate of the issues of the day.  After graduation Ivan first returned to his home in Puerto Rico to run his family businesses, then sold them and went for an MBA, after which he moved to Miami to work for HP where he still is today.  He once took Rebecca and I to the Virgin Islands on his yacht. Ivan aslo went on the 1999 Q3 random trip to Nova Scotia with me.

Kathy Wilson

Who:

Back in 1996 Kathy was living with Ivan in Puerto Rico, and they shared an email address.  Ivan was probably responsible for more of the email, but the email contest was about email addresses, not people!  Anyway, Kathy rides in on Ivan's coat tails by sharing his email address during a month Ivan won.  After breaking up with Ivan, Kathy moved to Atlanta and went through a series of boyfriends over the years.  I kept in touch with her all that time. Kathy continued to call me at all hours of the night (usually between 1 and 3 AM) to chat about one thing or another, but never really emailed much after she stopped sharing the email with Ivan.  Once every few years I'd see Kathy in person for one thing or another, mostly just phone though.  Kathy is still in Atlanta.  She works at the CDC doing things related to Women's Health Education.

Who:

When I was looking for an internship the summer after my year at CMU's Heinz School, Ron hired me at WTAE radio in Pittsburgh.  I did the internship, then Ron hired me as a part time fill in producer.  I encouraged him to let me start developing a web page for the radio station as well, which ended up being my first professional work in the web world.  Even after I left Pittsburgh and moved on to other things, I've kept in touch with Ron.  When he decided to start his own business selling old movies, I helped him set up the website and store.  Ron lives in Latrobe, PA with his wife Ursula and daughter Paisley and works many many hours a week at his Creepy Classics business.  Ron had a cameo in the 2003 Q1 random trip to Ohio.

Greg Haverkamp

Who:

Greg was another member of the WRCT Public Affairs Staff.  also hosted a talk show.  Initially he cohosted with Chris Morrow, but that was a rather rocky relationship.  He was in ROTC at CMU.  After graduation, Greg was in Boston somewhere for awhile at a couple of companies, but eventually moved to California doing the Silicon Valley thing.  He now spends his free time wandering around the West on his motorcycle. Sorry I only have a low res picture.  Of the ones I had myself, all were worse.  This is the best I could do off Greg's website.

Marilyn Dadowski

Who:

I met Marilyn through Ivan, who dated her briefly.  After Ivan left town, he introduced me to her to keep each other company.  We spent a lot of time together until I left Pittsburgh for the DC area.  Since then we have kept in touch and seen each other at least once a year.  Marilyn went to Atlanta for awhile, following Kathy Wilson, and taking a boyfriend in tow.  After that didn't work out, she returned to Pittsburgh, where she still lives today.  She does telecom work for Alcoa at the last update.  Marilyn went on the 2003 Q3 random trip to Idaho with me.

Who:

Chad was another person I met at Hampshire Hall at CMU.  Right down the hall from me, and also a Physics major, Chad was one of the first people I made friends with at college.  We studied together all the time.  After college Chad got a job at Wabco, which when he left, he recommended me for.  Chad then went off to Key West for awhile, then back to school at UVA for a bit, then off to Ohio.  He is now an expert on rust.  He went with me on the 2003 Q3 random trip to Idaho, and also had a part in the 2003 Q1 random trip to Ohio, and even a cameo apperance in the 1999 Q3 random trip to Nova Scotia.

Who:

Barb was a friend of a friend.  I had replied to all on a message the friend (Jay Duff) sent, and Barb replied to me.  We exchanged email for a year or two, then eventually met in person for an eventful weekend in her home town of Chicago.  After that we went our seperate ways again, but Barb still occationally kept in touch.  After a few years, she was emailing all the time again.  Eventually she moved from Chicago to Houston, got married and had a daughter Lily.  She still emails all the time.  Even occationally sending original content along with all the forwarded jokes and inspirational messages.  The picture here is the picture she sent me initially to introduce herself.  I'd post a more recent better picture, but while Barb has sent me thousands of pictures of her daughter, there are no pictures of her any better than this one.

Who:

Dawn was a friend of Barb's who also replied to a reply to all.  We ended up chatting a lot in email.  A lot was Dawn having me just be a listener to various issues that were going on with her and providing a sounding board.  Dawn would sometimes do the reverse.  At some point Dawn got married and had a child.  The last I heard from Dawn was a picture of the baby soon after it was born.  Haven't heard a thing since.  This picture of her jumping out of a plane is one of only a small handful of pictures I have of her.

Who:

Al is yet another of the Hampshire Hall crew.  Along with myself, Chad and Ivan formed the original core unit I hung out with at CMU.  After college Al went and made labels for awhile at Avery in North Carolina, then followed Ivan back to graduate school for his MBA at Purdue, but got there right after Ivan left and went home.  Since then Al moved to Virginia to work at Ericsson doing something with phones, and met and married Kim.  Al is a very mysterious guy.  Most of his emails are cryptic and mysterious, sometimes completely incomprehensible, yet he sends many of them, and many people respond.

Chris Morrow

I first knew Chris as Greg's cohost on his WRCT talk show.  But then he soon started dating Rebecca.  Next thing you knew they were married.  Chris and Rebecca moved to Virginia together after graduation.  And when it came time for me to leave Pittsburgh and also go to the greater Washington DC area, Chris got me my job at ANSER, which in turn led to my job at Merrill Lynch, and me moving to New Jersey, where I stayed for many years.  Chris does all kinds of funky network security stuff at UUnet.  Oh, make that Worldcom.  Oh, make that MCI.  Well, whatever.  Chris is very tall.

Сynthia is my sister.  She was born when I was 19 years old and already in college.  I set her up with her first email account at almost the exact same time I started the email top ten list.  It took her a few years to win for the first time, but she did.  And, she was only 5 or so when I set up the email account, so I'll let her slide for it this time.  She lives with my dad and step-mom and I visit her (and them) every month or two when I can.  We usually go out and do one or another fun thing together, and once a year or so she visits me.  She's doing the usual school things one would expect, and is now a vegitarian and very into animal rights issues.  Сynthia made a cameo apperance in the 2002 Q3 random trip to Quebec.

Lesley Anderson

Lesley is a friend of Kathy's that I met at Kathy's masters degree graduation.  She started talking to me at Kathy's party, and after that we exchanged email for awhile.  We did one big road trip together to meet Kathy down in Atlanta for a weekend.  This involved me driving from New Jersey to Pittsburgh to get Lesley, then from there to Atlanta to meet Kathy.  We went pretty much straight through.  Lesley lives in Pittsburgh with her husband and two children.  Shortly after our trip, Lesley's second son was born, and I haven't seen or heard much from her since then, but I gather she is well.

Kelly McGowan

Kelly worked with me at Merrill Lynch.  I first met her when I moved into the main building in Princeton out of the satellite office we had been in before.  We chatted a few times at work and went to see a few movies.  Then she got the email contest bug and started sending many many emails.  I wouldn't see her in person for weeks, but my email box would be full.  Then she got me going to a few Kareoke things, and ended up setting me up with Brandy.  Kelly once was one of the contestants on "Who Wants to Marry a Millionaire".  She didn't marry the millionare.  Yet.  Kelly made a cameo apperance in the 2003 Q1 random trip to Ohio.

Brandy Donaghy

Who:

Kelly introduced me to Brandy in early 2003.  I did not know it at the time, but Kelly was trying to set us up.  Brandy and I went out on an actual "date" once, but then I was stubborn and wanted to be just friends.  So she emailed me a lot, and we saw each other every once in awhile socially.  Then I decided I wanted a house, and lo and behold, Brandy was in real estate.  Brandy helped me find and buy my house.  Then after I bought the house, Brandy helped me a lot with moving in and getting settled, and we started to spend more and more time together, and kaboom, before you knew it (well, OK, it took a little while) we were dating.  At the point of the 100 months of email top ten, Brandy and her daughter Amy spend most weekends and many nights at my house, and we are planning on them moving in full time soon.  Brandy made cameo apperances in the 2003 Q1 random trip to Ohio and the 2003 Q3 random trip to Idaho.  I expect she and Amy may actually go on the next random trip, wherever it may be.

Erica Livingston

Who:

Erica is Rebecca's younger sister.  I'd met her a few times at Livingston family events, and had once gone to a party at her place when she was in school in West Virginia.  That party scared me.  Since then Erica has moved to Washington DC and is in law school. After winning the Tivo give away contest on my website in 2003 with the help of her sister, Erica decided she should start communicating with me herself, and before you knew it was making an active attempt to win the contest.  Before long she succeeded.  Now when I visit the DC area, Erica is often there as well as Rebecca, Al, Chris and Сynthia.
