Day Four

Well, on the last day we actually got up early because we had to to make the plane. Yawn! Didn't like that one bit!

On the way to the airport, we documented something which had occured the previous day. Ivan had asked me to throw some coffe out the window that he didn't like. I did.

How was I supposed to know it would go on the car?

Now, the airport was a bit of an adventure. We were originally supposed to have an additional day in Nova Scotia. The return tickets were actually for Tuesday, not Monday. But at the last minute it turns out that Ivan has to be back at work Tuesday. So we have to leave Monday. I didn't actually mind, it would give me the chance to decompress and catch up at home Tuesday before having to go back to work on Wednesday. But it meant we had to fly standby. At first the people at the counter said they couldn't put us on standby because the plane was already full. At this point Ivan used his ex-travelagent superpowers and started making some phonecalls and playing hardball with the peeple by making some phonecalls and yelling at them, and then when that failed by begging. In any case, he got us on standby. We waited until flight time and sure enough, even though the flight was overbooked, some folks had not showed up, and we got on the plane. Before we knew it we were heading down the runway...

And then we were in the air, looking down at the shadow of the plane over the rapidly receding landscape of Nova Scotia...

When we got to Newark, I waited with Ivan for him to get on his flight to Miami. While there, Ivan decided he needed to finish off the film in the disposable waterproof camera so I could get it developed right away. So he took a bunch of random shots of nothing (the floor, the ceiling, the chair next to him, etc) and a couple last shots of us in the President's Club. First me having a final drink...

Then himself...

And then it was time for Ivan to get on his plane to Miami. He did so. Then I got in my car and headed home. I got home, checked my email, answered a bit, read some, then of course went to sleep.

And the vacation was over.

Next year... two more random vacations!
