At 18:02 UTC today (11:02 AM Pacific, 2:02 PM Eastern) Alex will be exactly seven months old. Instead of just an “interview” here are highlights from Alex’s seventh month. Well, the ones we happened to catch on video anyway. Of course lots more happens off camera. :-)
This matters for America and other countries, too. There is now a precedent of a partner nation disconnecting users for alleged copyright infringement. This is a terrible moment for internet privacy and freedom.
For the last several weeks I’ve gotten the podcast out on Monday. Today it is time for work and I didn’t manage to get all the pieces stuck together yet. So it will be later in the week again… at least Tuesday, perhaps later. Oh well! Streaks only last so long you know…
We watched The Eleventh Hour, the first full episode of Doctor Who with the Eleventh Doctor early on Sunday (UTC). I’d had some doubts about this new Doctor, but by the end of the episode I wasn’t too worried any more. This looks like it will be a fun new season with a fun new Doctor and companion. Amy had absolutely hated the new Doctor from all the stuff before this episode aired, but by the end she was saying things like “Is it wrong that I kind of like him now?”. Brandy still isn’t sure what she thinks. Regardless, a new season with new episodes every week for the next few months. Yea!
We went looking around to try to figure out what it was. Most likely
candidate: A couple blocks from our house in the Newport Hills
neighborhood we found a house with the firetruck I saw in front of
it. One of the firemen was talkongvto someone who looked likevtgey
were from the house. There was also a Comcast truck repairing overhead
wires. It was nearly an hour after the booms, so it is possible
therehad been more. So I’m guessing a transformer or something with
the cable as collateral damage. That is just a guess though.
A few minutes ago there were two huge booms loud enough to shake the house, about a second apart. Nothing visible looking around outside the house, but sirens in the distance and one firetruck raced down our street on the way to somewhere else. Still no idea what it was. Am scouring local news sites, twitter, etc, but nothing yet. But it was enough to end quiet time in bed reading, and I’m getting up.
