For those who don’t already know… My wife Brandy is running for local office! Specifically, she is running for Snohomish County Fire District 1, Commissioner Position 3. Check out her candidate statement on her temporary campaign website. (She’s working on a more complete site, I quickly threw that one together for her as a starter site to have something up right away.)
This is a non-partisan position. There are five candidates in the primaries. The top two move on to the general election. The incumbent is David Chan, who got into trouble a few months ago for some comments about Mexicans he made during an official meeting.
Ever since the 2016 election… actually before, but it accelerated afterwards… Brandy has been increasingly engaged politically, and looking for places to make a difference. She’s been connecting with all sorts of people locally, and was urged by several to run for this position. It is her first run, but she is learning quickly. Win or lose, I’m pretty sure she intends to be actively engaged in things going forward.
If you are in the local area and want to know more or to help out, let me (or her) know!
I guess this means we’ll be investing in lawn signs and such soon… :-)

00:08:20 Retweeted @chrislhayes2017-06-07 22:40:28 It is pretty amusing to watch conservatives’ self-professed standards of behavior and appropriateness spiral ever downward.
01:50:23 Retweeted @longwall262017-06-07 20:41:54 Crazy idea–hear me out–maybe we DON’T vest nigh unlimited power in a single individual and “check” them with “traditions” and “norms”
02:11:06 Retweeted @chrislhayes2017-06-07 21:08:08 Emerging defense of Trump from GOP is basically that POTUS is too dumb/naive/or in over his head to have committed obstruction.

15:25:53 Retweeted @McFaul15:02:49 As a professor, when I tell students, I would “hope” that you make certain changes in a paper, they understand clearly what I’m expecting.
15:26:12 Retweeted @ZekeJMiller15:25:15 WOW Comey testifies under oath he actively took steps to speed up the appointment of a special counsel
15:26:48 Retweeted @samsteinhp15:25:13 Comey said he had friend leak the memos to press (the NYT). which is obviously why NYT reporting was so on point with his written testimony
15:27:32 Retweeted @matthewamiller15:23:51 Huge revelation Comey told Rosenstein about his concerns with Trump – yet he still wrote the memo justifying his firing. Needs follow up.
15:33:28 Retweeted @maggieNYT15:28:58 This is an FBI director, in his interactions, describing a president as having no sense of boundaries unless there’s imminent risk. in reply to maggieNYT

20:21:33 Retweeted @rebliv20:19:52 Experience in other fields may bring benefits, but it’s not enough to compensate for lack of a government/legal/diplomatic background. in reply to rebliv
20:23:36 Retweeted @rebliv20:23:08 The Rock may be a great guy, but if he’s interested in running 4 pres, he 1st needs to learn the ropes & show competence in a lower office. in reply to rebliv
20:28:20@rebliv Would you support a const amendment to require Pres to be former VP, congress, cabinet, governor, or general? All but 45 would qual. in reply to rebliv
20:34:04@rebliv I might even trade age and natural born citizen requirements for previous experience requirements at this point. :-) in reply to rebliv
