If so, I’m on there as, what else, Abulsme. Just invite me to a game. I figure now that it is available on Android in addition to iPhone and iPad and such, there might be a few more out there who might want to play. Links to all the downloads on the Words With Friends website. For anybody who doesn’t actually know, it is a Scrabble-like game where you play when you have time to make a move rather than everyone having to be available at the same time. Personally, unless I get unexpected free down time, I’m often just a one or two moves per game per day guy, but every once in awhile I’ll happen to be on at the same time as someone else and go a bit faster. :-) I had been playing Scrabble via Facebook with a bunch of folks last year, but then Facebook went and changed something about how their notifications worked, and all of a sudden anyone actually playing via Facebook rather than through the iPhone app never seemed to get notifications that it was their turn. That sucked, so I dumped Scrabble and moved to Words with Friends. I’ve been playing with a few friends since then, but since the game has only been available on iPhone, it has limited who might be able to play. Now that it is on Android too, maybe there will be a few more folks who want to play. Of course, the universe of people with iOS or Android is still somewhat constrained. But it is more now than it was. So… anyone wanna play?
So, it was time to watch something that we owned but had never gotten around to watching. This time in specific it was a DVD Amy had accidentally purchased at some point. Oops. Anyway, this is just a TV roundtable that aired in the UK in the 80’s. A moderator, Arthur C. Clarke, Carl Sagan and Stephen Hawking discussing a variety of topics from the Big Bang to the origin of creativity. As these sorts of things go, it was a somewhat interesting discussion, but a little dry and slow. It also was noticeably dated, what with being more than two decades old at this point. I tried to pay attention to what they were actually saying, sort of as a bit of a time capsule of the times and the nature of our knowledge of the topics discussed at the time, but I think Amy and Brandy were mainly just amused by the whole thing. Anyway, kind of interesting to see these three personalities having a chat, but overall probably not really worth the hour unless you are a completist wanting to see everything these folks ever appeared in. And admittedly, I am a Sagan fan, but if I wanted to see Sagan, I’d be much better off watching some Cosmos. I failed to make note of it at the time because things have been absolutely crazy the last few weeks, and between work and fighting a really awful cold that has infected the whole family, I just haven’t had time for much. But back on January 11th, at about 22:18 UTC, it was five years since I started at my current employer. This means I get a yellow border on my ID badge as a prize. Woo? |
